Capes and aprons take a lot of punishment: hair, water, colour and daily washing. A few habits keep them looking fresh.
Every client
- Fold the cape inward before lifting it off so clippings stay inside.
- Shake it out away from the chair.
- Wipe colour splashes on aprons straight away.
Washing
- Follow the care label on each piece.
- Wash colour capes separately from cutting capes.
- Air-dry where possible to protect coatings and prints.
Rotate your stock
Keep enough capes that one set is always clean. Colour-coding — for example Light Blue for cutting and Red & Black for colour — makes rotation easy.
When to replace
Replace a cape when the closure no longer holds or the fabric stops shedding hair.
