The Medavita Repair Guide: Nutrisubstance vs Prodige vs β-Refibre vs Keratin Miracle

"Repair" is the most overloaded word in haircare. Four different problems get sold the same bottle, and three of the four do not improve. Medavita separates them properly — there are distinct lines for dryness, for structural damage, for broken bonds and for frizz — so the first job is working out which one you actually have.

Diagnose first

What you notice What it is The line
Hair drinks product and still feels thirsty; ends look dull Dryness — moisture, not structure Nutrisubstance
Hair feels rough, tangles, lost its bounce after a run of services Stress and fatigue Prodige
Wet hair stretches and snaps; bleached mid-lengths gum up Structural damage — broken bonds β-Refibre or Elisièr Instant Bond Repair
Hair is smooth for an hour then frizzes; humidity ruins it Cuticle disruption, not internal damage Keratin Miracle
Fine hair that is also damaged Both, and weight is the enemy Elisièr

Nutrisubstance — dryness

Castor oil, shea butter, amino acids, glycerin and panthenol. Cleanses while hydrating, forming a sheath over the fibre. The line runs a shampoo, a nutritive mask, a repairing microemulsion, a shining serum, an 8-Hour Rescue Treatment and a 24 × 10 ml nourishing ampoule course, with a shampoo-and-mask duo as the entry point.

Best for: dryness with no other complication. It is also the safest first Medavita purchase for anybody.

Prodige — stressed, over-worked hair

Built on Lifesaver Liposome — leucine, isoleucine, valine and hydrolysed spelt protein — with moringa, linseed, sesame and wheat protein. It gently cleanses while repairing the structure of stressed hair deep down, restoring strength and shine.

The line is the deepest in the range: Revivifying Shampoo, Ultimate Deep Recovering Mask, Divine Beauty Hair Cream, Instant Repair Hair Perfector, an Instant Magnifying Serum, a hair-detoxifying mud, and professional 500 ml protein cream, sealing protein butter, restoring shampoo and a 12 × 10 ml rejuvenating lotion.

Best for: hair that has had too many services in too short a time — colour, then lightening, then heat.

β-Refibre — reconstruction

The Amino Concentré complex — serine, threonine, glycine, arginine, glutamic acid and carbocisteine — chosen because the molecules are small enough to travel into the fibre and rebuild it from the inside rather than coating it. Reconstructive Shampoo, Hair Mask, Microemulsion, B-Nectar Reconstructive Hair Cream, a 500 ml professional Reconstructive Hair Fluid and a 24 × 10 ml serum course.

Best for: bleached or heavily processed hair that stretches when wet and snaps when dry.

Elisièr — fortifying, and instant bond repair

Two jobs. The Fortifying Serum and Fortifying & Bodyfying Foam strengthen fine, fragile hair and give it substance. Instant Bond Repair is a three-part system — a pre-shampoo treatment (150 ml), a bond-rebuilding shampoo (250 ml) and conditioner (200 ml) — designed to work in a single wash cycle.

Best for: fine hair that is also damaged, which is the brief most repair ranges fail because everything they offer is too heavy.

Keratin Miracle — frizz and smoothness

Acid pH, salt-free and sulfate-free, with keratin and arginine carried in macadamia, cottonseed, sweet almond, olive, avocado and soybean oils. It smooths the fibre as it cleanses and gives lasting frizz protection rather than a one-wash slick.

Sleek Hair Shampoo and Mask, Smoothing Thermo Defence Spray, Frizz Over Hair Mousse, Go Smooth Hair Foundation Serum, plus the professional Pure Chelating Shampoo, Liss Magic Drops and the Smoothing Fluid for in-salon work.

Best for: frizz that returns with the humidity. Note: the chelating shampoo is the one to use first if your water is hard — minerals are a frizz cause people rarely check.

If smoothing is the whole point, Lissublime adds a smoothing shampoo and a super-smoothing mask; Glossynation is the in-salon lamination service that makes hair look thicker and reflect more light for weeks.

Three worked routines

Dry, not damaged: Nutrisubstance shampoo every wash → Nutritive Mask twice a week → Shining Hair Serum on damp ends. Add the 8-Hour Rescue Treatment monthly.

Bleached and breaking: β-Refibre Reconstructive Shampoo → Reconstructive Hair Mask every wash for two weeks, then weekly → Microemulsion on damp mid-lengths daily. Keep heat under 180 °C.

Frizzy and coloured: Keratin Miracle Pure Chelating Shampoo once to clear minerals → Sleek Hair Shampoo and Mask thereafter → Smoothing Thermo Defence Spray before every blow-dry → Luxviva Post Color Mask weekly to hold the colour.

What will not help

  • More protein on protein-overloaded hair. If your hair has gone stiff and brittle on a repair regime, stop and use Nutrisubstance for two weeks.
  • Masks for broken bonds. Conditioning is not reconstruction. They do different jobs and you probably need both.
  • Heat protection instead of repair. Protection prevents the next damage; it does nothing about the last lot.
  • Trims instead of treatment — though if your ends are split, nothing in this guide beats scissors.
