What all three share
All three are mixed with Pravana ChromaSilk Creme Developer. All three are on-scalp to 20 volume and off-scalp to 40 volume — that is a hard ceiling, not a guideline. Beyond that, they behave differently enough that the choice matters.
Pure Light Power Lightener — 680 g, $62.44
The blue-based powder, up to seven levels of lift.
The blue pigment is doing real work rather than being a colour cue. As the lightener strips through the underlying warm tones, the blue sits against the yellow and orange it exposes, so what you uncover is cleaner than a neutral powder would leave. That means less correction work at the toning stage.
Three more properties matter in a working colour room. It is dust-free, which matters for both your lungs and the mess on the station. It is microencapsulated, so the lift keeps working steadily rather than exhausting early — the difference between a predictable process and one that stalls halfway. And it does not swell in the bowl, so what you mix is what stays workable through the application.
At 680 g it is also the largest container in the range, which is where the $62.44 goes.
Best for: the busy colour room doing lightening every day, where clean tone out of the lift and predictable timing are worth more than the unit price.
Pure Light Ultra Lightener — 453 g, $47.19
The one that goes to nine levels — a smooth, creamy powder carrying REUNITE MENDING Technology.
Nine levels is global-blonding territory. It is the lightener for the pastels and platinums that need the hair almost white before any tone goes near it, for a platinum touch-up that has to match what is already there, for the stubborn head that refuses to lift, and for pre-lightening before VIVIDS.
REUNITE MENDING Technology is Pravana's own system: amino acids for internal strength paired with plant-derived mending ingredients that help reunite the cuticle layer. The point of it is when it works — the mending happens during the lift rather than as a separate step afterwards. Pravana lists improved smoothness and improved manageability as the outcome.
Best for: global blonding, platinum, pastels, and the pre-lightening step before any vivid service.
Pure Light 9-Level Lightening Cream — 240 g, $34.07
Powder-level lifting power delivered as a cream — up to nine levels, evenly, in forty-five minutes. Mixed 1:2 with Creme Developer.
If you have ever wanted the reliability of a powder without mixing a powder, this is the answer. The creamy base spreads evenly and stays where you put it, which is most of the reason the lift comes up uniform rather than patchy, and it applies quickly enough that a full head does not drift out of sequence — the sections applied first do not run forty minutes ahead of the sections applied last.
Shea butter, arginine and hydrolysed keratin sit in the formula, and Pravana's claims for it are about how the hair looks afterwards: healthy, nourished, hydrated.
Best for: even, controlled lift on a full head — and the sensible first lightener to own.

Which one, by the job
- Pre-lightening before VIVIDS → Ultra. VIVIDS only reads true on a clean, very light canvas, and nine levels with mending built in is exactly that brief.
- Full-head global blonde or platinum → Ultra, or the 9-Level Cream if even application across a full head is the harder part of the service.
- Balayage and freehand, off-scalp → Power Lightener. It does not swell, so a hand-painted section stays the shape you painted it.
- Highlights in foil → Power Lightener for clean tone out of the lift, or the 9-Level Cream when you want the cream handling.
- Your first Pravana lightener → the 9-Level Cream at $34.07. Cream handling, nine levels, a third of the outlay of the Power Lightener.
- High-volume colour room → Power Lightener. 680 g and predictable timing pay for themselves.
Lift without a lightener
Worth naming: if the client needs to go blonde from a dark base but their hair — or their nerve — will not take a lightener, ChromaSilk HI LIFTS gets four levels of lift, neutralise and tone in a single step with no bleach involved. Five violet-based shades, because violet cancels the yellow that lifting a dark base exposes. It will not reach nine levels, but for a one-process result on the right head it is the gentler route.
Bottom line
Buy the 9-Level Lightening Cream first. Add Ultra when you start doing vivids and platinums seriously. Add Power Lightener when lightening becomes daily work and the 680 g container and the clean blue-based lift start earning their price.
