Uppercut Deluxe stocks three washes and two face products at ProHair. On a shelf they look like variations on a theme. In use they are not remotely interchangeable, and the most common mistake in the whole range is reaching for the deep-clean shampoo when what your scalp needed was the calm one.
The three washes
| Product | What it does | How often | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 in 1 Wash | Gentle everyday cleanse for hair, face and body. Coconut oil. | Daily | $17.25 / 240 ml $52.50 / 1 L |
| Clear Scalp Shampoo | Clears a congested scalp and soothes it at the same time | As often as needed | $17.25 / 240 ml |
| Detox & Degrease Shampoo | Charcoal and a wax-removal complex — strips styling product out | Weekly | $17.25 / 240 ml |
3 in 1 Wash — the default
This is the one most people should be using most days, and the single best first purchase in the brand. It is deliberately unspecialised: gentle enough for face and body, with coconut oil so it does not leave skin feeling tight. Suits straight, wavy and curly hair alike, because it is not trying to do anything clever to your hair.
It is also the only product in the range that comes in a 1 L backbar size. At $52.50 that is 5.25 ¢ per millilitre against 7.19 ¢ for the 240 ml bottle — 27% less per wash. If it is your everyday wash, or you run a shop, buy the litre.
Clear Scalp Shampoo — when the scalp is the problem
Congested, coated, itchy or generally unhappy scalp, and an ordinary shampoo is not shifting it. What separates this from a normal clarifying shampoo is the finish: clarifiers usually leave a scalp tight and irritated, and this one is built to calm it on the way out. That is why it is safe to use frequently and Detox & Degrease is not.
Detox & Degrease — the weekly reset
Activated charcoal plus a dedicated wax-removal complex. If you use clay, paste or pomade daily, there is a film on your hair right now that your usual shampoo has not removed — it is why hair goes progressively flatter and duller through the week and why the next application of product behaves worse than the last. One wash with this a week resets it.
Do not use it daily. It is a deep clean. Used every day it will strip more than you want, and then you will need the Clear Scalp Shampoo to fix what you did.
Picking between the two shampoos
- The problem is on your scalp — itch, congestion, irritation → Clear Scalp Shampoo.
- The problem is on your hair — coated, heavy, product will not wash out → Detox & Degrease.
- Both, which is common on a daily clay user → Detox & Degrease once a week, Clear Scalp the rest of the time.
Most people need one of these two, not both. Start with the one that matches the problem you actually have.
The two face products
Exfoliating Cleanser — $17.25, 120 ml
Pumice and charcoal, gentle enough for daily use on normal, oily and combination skin. It is sold as a face wash and it works as one, but its real value is as a pre-shave: it lifts hairs lying flat against the skin so the blade takes them the first time.
Hydrating Moisturizer — $17.25, 120 ml
Oil-free and it finishes properly matte, which is the specific thing men with oily skin cannot usually find. Calm enough for post-shave. If every moisturiser you have tried has left you shining by mid-morning, this is the answer to that.
A simple weekly routine
- Every day: 3 in 1 Wash. Exfoliating Cleanser on the face if you shave. Hydrating Moisturizer after.
- When the scalp complains: swap in Clear Scalp Shampoo.
- Once a week: Detox & Degrease, if you use styling product.
A correction to what this guide used to say here. Uppercut Deluxe now makes a conditioner. None of these washes conditions your hair — that part has not changed. What has changed is where the conditioner comes from. Strength & Restore Conditioner ($17.25 / 240 ml, $52.50 / 1 L) is the brand's first, with a matching shampoo and a duo. If your hair is long, coloured, dry or damaged you can now stay inside the brand for cleanse-and-condition — though there is still no mask and no leave-in, so a weekly deep-repair step is still someone else's job, and we would rather tell you that than sell you a third wash.
Frequently asked
Can the 3 in 1 Wash really be used on my face?
Yes — it is formulated for hair, face and body. If you have specifically oily or congested skin, the Exfoliating Cleanser will do more for your face than the wash will.
Is Detox & Degrease safe on coloured hair?
It is a deep-cleansing shampoo with a wax-removal complex, so it will lift more than a gentle wash does, and repeated use will shorten the life of a colour. Used once a week it is fine for most people; if you have just paid for colour, keep it to occasional use.
Will the Clear Scalp Shampoo help with dandruff?
It clears and soothes a congested, irritated scalp, which helps a lot of people. It is not a medicated anti-dandruff treatment and does not claim to be. Persistent flaking is worth a pharmacist or a dermatologist.
Is the moisturiser fragranced?
Lightly. The heavy fragrance in the range is the Aftershave Cologne, which is a separate product and deliberately so.
