OLAPLEX buying guide: what each number does

Choose OLAPLEX by the job your routine needs: washing, conditioning, clarifying, blonde toning or leave-in styling. Explore the selection below, with professional salon treatments and lash care clearly separated.

No.4 + No.5: wash and condition

Start with the job: No.4 is the shampoo; No.5 is the conditioner you rinse out. These are the maintenance steps to compare before adding a specialist shampoo or leave-in. Choose each bottle size on its own product page rather than assuming both come together.

No.4C: clarify buildup

No.4C targets buildup rather than blonde tone or between-wash refreshment. Compare it with your regular shampoo when styling residue is the reason for changing your wash. Follow the bottle instructions for frequency and finish with a suitable rinse-out conditioner.

No.4P: blonde toning

Choose No.4P when unwanted yellow tones are your priority. It has a different purpose from No.4C clarifying shampoo. Follow the exact contact time on the product label; more time is not automatically better. This is tone maintenance, not a replacement for a colour service.

No.4D: between-wash refresh

No.4D belongs between wash days. Choose it for an oil-absorbing refresh at the roots rather than using it as a rinse-out shampoo. Keep a regular cleansing routine and follow the spray directions on the can.

No.5L + No.6: leave-in care and styling

No.5L Moisturize & Mend is the leave-in conditioning choice; No.6 Bond Smoother is the smoothing styling cream. Pick the role you need after washing instead of treating every numbered bottle as a compulsory step. No.5 rinse-out conditioner and No.5L leave-in are different products.

Professional salon treatments

Keep professional services separate from your home routine. No.2 is part of the professional bond-building system; Chelating Treatment addresses accumulated impurities within a salon protocol; 4-in-1 Moisture Mask is a professional conditioning treatment. Ask your stylist which service fits your hair and follow the professional instructions. They are not interchangeable versions of No.5.

LASHBOND: lash care

LASHBOND is made for the appearance of fuller, longer-looking lashes. It is not a scalp treatment and does not replace shampoo or conditioner. Use only as directed along the upper lash line; do not adapt hair-product application methods to the eye area.

Before you choose

Start with your next wash

Decide whether you need regular cleansing, targeted clarification or tone maintenance, then choose conditioning to follow.

Add one useful finishing step

Compare No.5L for leave-in conditioning with No.6 for smoothing styling. Let your hair and the product directions guide the amount.

Your questions, answered

Do I need every OLAPLEX number?

No. Choose the products that fit your routine. The numbers identify different products, not a requirement to apply the whole catalogue in order.

No.4C or No.4P?

No.4C is for clarifying buildup. No.4P is a purple toning shampoo for unwanted yellow tones. Choose by the concern, not by the similar bottle name.

Is No.5 the same as No.5L?

No. Rinse out No.5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner. No.5L Moisturize & Mend is a leave-in conditioner; follow its own directions.

Can I use No.2 as my home conditioner?

No.2 belongs to a professional salon system. Choose the home-care product for the job you need and ask your stylist about professional treatment options.

Does LASHBOND belong in a hair routine?

It is a separate lash-care product. Use it only as directed for lashes, not on the scalp or as a hair treatment.
