Professional brushes, shears and hot tools — 117 products, 9 ranges

Olivia Garden has been building professional hair tools since 1968, and it is one of the few brands a stylist will happily own the whole kit from: the round brush on the blow-dry station, the detangler at the shampoo bowl, the shear in the holster and the comb in the apron pocket. The engineering is the point. Ceramic and tourmaline-ion barrels heat evenly instead of scorching one side, ion bristles bleed static out of fine hair, and the bamboo EcoHair line puts a renewable body on the same boar-and-ion bristle work.

ProHair carries the professional assortment, not the drugstore edit — 117 products across nine ranges. Round brushes run from a 12 mm pencil barrel for fringe and short layers up to an 82 mm barrel for long, heavy blowouts. The CurlyHair line is sized by curl type, from 2A waves to 4C coils, rather than the one-size-fits-all detangler most brands stop at. The SilkCut and TextureCut shears come in 5 in, 5.75 in and 6.5 in, left-handed as well as right, with 9-, 15-, 21-, 25- and 35-tooth thinners to match.

Prices here start at $4.99 for a compact styling brush and run to $412.49 for a full shear and razor kit, with the median product at about $27. Everything is sourced through our authorised Canadian distribution, ships from Quebec, and is the same stock that goes to salons — not a grey-market import. If you are not sure which barrel, bristle or tooth count you need, the four buying guides below were written against this exact assortment.

Which Olivia Garden Products Are Right for You?

Thermal Round Brushes

Best for: Blow-drying, smoothing, bend and volume

The core of the brand. Ceramic, tourmaline-ion or nano-ion barrels that hold and spread heat evenly, from 12 mm for fringe up to 82 mm for long, heavy hair. Choose the barrel roughly the diameter of the curl you want to keep; the Speed XL versions are vented for faster drying.

Detangling Brushes and Combs

Best for: Wet hair, children, extensions, post-shampoo

Memory-flex and ball-tip bristles that give way instead of tearing. The iDetangle line is sized by hair density (fine, medium, thick) and the CurlyHair line by curl type, 2A through 4C, so the bristle spacing actually matches the pattern you are working through.

Paddle and Boar-Bristle Brushes

Best for: Smoothing, shine, daily brushing, long hair

Large flat heads for fast smoothing on long hair, and boar-bristle blends that redistribute natural oils and lay the cuticle down. The EcoHair bamboo paddles pair the boar-and-ion bristle work with a renewable body and are the pick if you brush dry hair daily.

Shears, Thinners and Razors

Best for: Cutting, layering, texturising, soft blending

SilkCut and SilkCut Pro convex-blade shears in 5 in, 5.75 in and 6.5 in, left-handed as well as right, plus TextureCut thinners at 9, 15 and 21 teeth, the 25-tooth PerfectBlend and the 35-tooth Pro thinner. The Edge razor, its blade dispenser, the care-oil pen and an 8-tool stand round it out.

Hot Tools and Dryers

Best for: Curling, straightening, professional drying

Titanium-ion curling irons in 3/4 in, 1 in, 1 1/4 in and 1 1/2 in (most ship with a heat-resistant mat), 1 1/2 in flat irons, the Super HP high-performance dryer and the Ceramic + Ion diffuser that fits it.

Scalp and Grooming Brushes

Best for: Scalp health, buildup, beards, barbering

The Scalp Diva cleansing, exfoliating and massage brushes for working product and buildup out of the scalp, the Barber Wave beard and combo brushes, the Fade Duster for neck and clipper work, and the double-length brush for applying colour and treatment.

Rollers, Sets and Salon Wear

Best for: Sets, gifting, salon floor kit

Jet Set EZ Grip rollers in jumbo and regular, the boxed four-brush sets, the MultiBrush interchangeable handle and heads, brush and comb cleaners, sectioning clips, and the NewCycle 100% recycled waterproof jacket, vest and apron.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Olivia Garden round brush barrel size should I buy?
Match the barrel to the finish you want, not only to your hair length: the barrel diameter is roughly the diameter of the bend you keep. We stock 12 mm to 82 mm. Fringe and short hair, 12-25 mm. Shoulder-length, 34-45 mm. Long hair you want smooth and fast, 54-82 mm. If you are buying one brush for shoulder-length hair, a 44-45 mm barrel is the most versatile single choice. The full breakdown is in our barrel-size guide above.
What is the difference between NanoThermic, Ceramic + Ion, HeatPro, EcoHair and EcoCeramic?
They are the same idea executed at different price points and in different materials. Ceramic + Ion is the workhorse ceramic barrel with ionic bristles. NanoThermic adds a nano-ion barrel coating that spreads heat more evenly and is the line most stylists run on a busy blow-dry station. HeatPro is built for heat tolerance, rated to 290 C. EcoHair puts boar-and-ion or ion bristles on a renewable bamboo body. EcoCeramic pairs bamboo with a ceramic thermal barrel and a firmer bristle for thick hair that needs real tension. Barrel size matters more to your result than which of these you choose.
Do the Speed XL brushes really dry hair 25% faster?
Olivia Garden's claim is 25% faster, and on long or dense hair the vented extra-long barrel does make a measurable difference because air passes through the section rather than only around it. On fine hair above the shoulder the saving is small and the longer barrel is harder to control in short sections. We would buy Speed XL for long, thick hair and a standard barrel for short or fine.
Which Olivia Garden brush is right for curly hair?
The CurlyHair line is sized by curl type, which is unusual and genuinely useful. 2A to 3A: the CurlyHair Brush or the purple Splash. 2C to 4A: the green dual-bristle Splash. 3B to 4C: the wide-bristle brush, with the wide-tooth comb with handle for heavy tangles. If you are between two ranges, size up to the wider spacing. Detangle wet with conditioner still in, bottom-up.
Is boar bristle better than ion bristle?
Neither is better, they do different jobs. Boar grips the cuticle and drags natural oils down the strand, which is where real shine comes from, but it barely penetrates thick hair and it is not vegan. Ion nylon bristles neutralise the static that blow-drying builds up, which matters most on fine and flyaway hair. Combo brushes alternate both and are the right answer for most people on medium to thick hair. For wet detangling, use neither: use memory-flex or ball-tip nylon.
What blade length and tooth count should my first professional shear be?
A 5.75 in convex shear for general salon work, paired with a 21- or 25-tooth thinner. Go to 5 in if you mostly cut short hair or barber, and 6.5 in if you do high-volume men's work or scissor-over-comb. On thinners, fewer teeth removes more hair and shows more: 9 teeth is aggressive notching, 35 teeth is gradual debulking. You can always take more hair; you cannot put it back. Our shear guide above covers convex versus bevelled and the left-handed options.
Do you stock genuinely left-handed shears?
Yes, and they are properly reversed, not right-handed shears relabelled. We carry the SilkCut Pro left-handed shear-and-thinner sets in 5 in, 5.75 in and 6.5 in, the SilkCut left-handed Breast Cancer Awareness edition, the PrecisionCut left-handed 6.5 in shear-and-razor set and the SwivelCut left-handed 5 in dual-pivot set. A left-handed stylist working with a right-handed shear folds the hair away from the edge, which is why it feels blunt however recently it was sharpened.
Are the bamboo EcoHair brushes as good as the plastic ones, or is it just marketing?
The bristle work is the same standard boar-and-ion or ion bristle used across the range, so performance is comparable. What you are buying with EcoHair is a renewable bamboo body instead of moulded plastic, plus a warmer feel in the hand. The one real difference is care: bamboo should not sit in water or be left wet, so dry it after a cleaning rather than leaving it on a wet station.
Is Olivia Garden at ProHair authorised Canadian stock?
Yes. We buy through the brand's Canadian distribution and ship from our own warehouse in Quebec, so what you receive is the same stock that goes to salons, with the warranty behind it. Prices are in Canadian dollars with no conversion at checkout, and shipping is free over $99.99. We carry the professional assortment rather than the consumer edit, which is why you will find every barrel size, the left-handed shears and the individual replacement heads and blades here.
How do I clean and care for an Olivia Garden brush or shear?
Brushes: pull the shed hair out weekly with the Brush Cleaner tool, then wash the bristles in warm water with a drop of shampoo, rinse and dry bristles-down so water does not sit in the cushion. Never soak a bamboo body. Shears: wipe the blades after every client and oil the pivot daily with the Shear Care Oil Pen, never store a convex shear wet, and have it professionally sharpened rather than touched up by hand. The Shear and Razor Stand holds eight tools and keeps blades off the counter.
