Isinis makes the Altesse oval cushion brush in France, and Altesse Studio is its updated look: a matte black body with a comfortable grip, handcrafted and polished by hand. ProHair carries it in two bristle types — 100% boar and nylon — each in a Small and a Large size.

Both versions set their bristles at uneven heights in a 100% latex pneumatic cushion that flexes to follow the contour of the scalp, so the brush reaches through the hair and detangles with fewer pulls and snags. Boar bristles carry the scalp's natural oils from the roots to the ends for smoothness and shine; nylon bristles glide through knots for quick, gentle everyday detangling.

Boar or nylon — which Altesse Studio brush should I choose?
Choose boar bristles if you want shine and a smooth, sleek finish: they carry your scalp's natural oils from the roots down the lengths. Choose nylon if your priority is getting through tangles comfortably every day: the smooth, flexible bristles glide through knots with fewer pulls. Many people keep one of each — nylon to detangle, boar to finish.
Can I use an Isinis cushion brush on wet hair?
No. Isinis recommends using its brushes on dry or mostly dry hair only. Wet hair is more fragile, and brushing it can cause breakage. Towel-dry and let your hair dry most of the way, or use a wide-tooth comb while it is wet.
Which size do I need?
Choose by hair length. The Small, about 18 × 4.5 cm, is easier to steer on short to medium hair and travels well. The Large, about 22 × 6 cm, covers more hair per stroke and suits medium to long hair. If several people with different hair lengths share one brush, the Large is the more versatile pick.

How do I clean a cushion brush?
Lift trapped hair out with the end of a tail comb, soak the brush briefly in warm water with a little shampoo, rinse well and leave it to dry bristles-down so water drains away from the cushion. Clean more often if you use styling products, because residue on the bristles is brushed back into clean hair.
Are these brushes suitable for fine hair?
Yes. Both the boar and the nylon bristles are soft enough for fine hair and still work through thicker hair. On thick or long hair, brush in sections so the bristles reach every layer, and always brush from the roots to the ends.
